I have been writing this blog for a few years now giving my own personal take on where I see marketing; the internet; and mobile sectors heading.

The plan is to try to not only draw your attention to interesting conversations happening online but also focus on my own view of what is happening. Over the years this has ranged from the slow evolution of newspapers and the music industry through to the mainstream adoption of social networks and how they are changing the way people use the internet.

The changes online are really only just beginning and there are definitely interesting times ahead. Not least in marketing where  users are becoming bored of the broadcast techniques learnt in recent decades and instead are demanding more personal conversations and understanding from companies. I see this as a return to the roots of marketing; it will be interesting to see if this new era of social marketing can rid itself of traditional marketing’s bad reputation

I am a mix of entrepreneur, internet evangelist and marketer who has been lucky to work with cutting edge technologies throughout his career, whether it be the nascent flash/java video space in the early 2000s to combining email and social media marketing technologies in 2008.

I currently work at Silverpop running its international marketing operations having previously also built up its international services groups. Prior to Silverpop, I set up Digital Oxygen; a digital agency delivering sophisticated engagement marketing techniques (though it wasn’t called that in those days!) and First Media – a cutting edge internet video platform for delivering video advertising and content to mainstream audiences.
